Question 1

Ballpark for fencing a corner lot backyard in Hunt Club?

Accepted Answer

For a corner-lot backyard in Hunt Club, start with the published per-foot ranges, then the corner layout rules. Published Ontario installer pricing for 2025–26 runs roughly $30 to $65 per linear foot for pressure-treated wood, $45 to $85 for cedar, $45 to $90 for vinyl, and $55 to $95 or more for composite. A pedestrian gate adds about $500 to $1,500 on top of the fence price, and a driveway gate about $800 to $2,200.

Question 2

Is composite fencing worth the higher price in Riverside South?

Accepted Answer

Composite fencing runs about $55 to $95 or more per linear foot installed, based on published 2025-26 Ontario installer pricing. That is above pressure-treated wood at $30 to $65 and cedar at $45 to $85, so the gap is real and worth thinking through before you commit. Whether that gap makes sense for your property comes down to what you are comparing and what the quote actually includes.

Question 3

Does removing my old fence add much to an Alta Vista quote?

Accepted Answer

Removing an old fence adds roughly $5 to $15 per linear foot to a quote, based on published 2025–26 Ontario installer pricing. Published installer pages say posts set in concrete cost more to pull, which is one reason the spread is wide. Ask for removal as its own line item, and ask specifically whether the removal price assumes concrete footings, and what happens to the price if they find concrete when they expected none. The length of the run matters too.

Question 4

Driveway gate on my Ottawa fence: what does it add to the quote?

Accepted Answer

A driveway gate adds about $800 to $2,200 to a fence quote in published Ontario installer pricing, and a walk gate about $500 to $1,500, on top of the per-linear-foot fence price. Those ranges cover materials and installation. Ask the installer to put the width of the opening, the gate material, the hinges and latch, and how the gate posts are set and how deep in the quote, with the gate priced as its own line. If the gate material differs from the fence, ask about it explicitly.

Question 5

Budgeting for a new wood fence around a Stittsville backyard?

Accepted Answer

For a wood privacy fence in a Stittsville backyard, published Ontario installer pricing for 2025–26 puts pressure-treated wood at about $30 to $65 per linear foot installed, and cedar at about $45 to $85 per linear foot. Question 6

My quote says $9,000 for a backyard fence in Orleans, too high?

Accepted Answer

Whether the figure you were quoted is high depends almost entirely on what is included: the material, the total length of the run, how many gates, whether an old fence needs to come out, and what the ground is like. Without those details, the number alone does not tell you much.

Question 7

Is $60 a foot fair for a pressure-treated fence in Ottawa?

Accepted Answer

For a pressure-treated wood fence, about $30 to $65 per linear foot installed is the range in published Ontario installer pricing. The figure you were quoted sits at the upper end of that published range, so it is not outside it, but it is worth understanding what should be included at that price before you agree to it. Several things in the quote affect where a price lands within that spread. The height of the fence matters.

Question 8

What does a 6-foot board fence cost for a Westboro lot?

Accepted Answer

A 6-foot board fence is within the City of Ottawa Fence By-law's 213 cm (about 7 feet) limit for side and rear yards; in a front yard the limit is 1 m. Published 2025-26 Ontario installer pricing for pressure-treated wood runs about $30 to $65 per linear foot installed, and for cedar about $45 to $85 per linear foot. Question 9

What goes into the price of a chain link fence in Gloucester?

Accepted Answer

Published 2025–26 Ontario installer pricing puts coated chain link at roughly $15 to $50 per linear foot, installed, with coating adding a few dollars per foot to the lower end of that spread. The spread is wide, so it helps to know what to ask for before you get a quote. The gauge of the wire and the mesh opening size both affect the material cost, and so does the height of the fence. Ask what height the quote assumes.

Fair price for 120 feet of vinyl fence in Barrhaven?

Accepted Answer

Published 2025–26 Ontario installer pricing puts vinyl fence at about $45 to $90 per linear foot, installed, with premium styles running higher. Multiply the length of your run by that per-foot range for a first check, before gates and other extras; where a quote lands depends on what it includes. Question 14

Fence site visit fee in Ottawa, normal or not?

Accepted Answer

We found too few published prices to say what an Ottawa fence site visit costs, and no rule in the Fence By-law or the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 that sets or caps one. If an installer charges for a visit, ask before you book it what the visit includes (measuring the run, checking the grade, a written quote) and whether the fee is credited against the job if you hire them. A few things worth knowing before that visit happens.

Question 15

How much is a cedar fence for an Orleans side yard?

Question 16

Is $2,000 for a driveway gate too much in Gloucester?

Accepted Answer

Published Ontario installer pricing puts driveway gates at roughly $800 to $2,200 installed, so the figure you were quoted sits near the top of that range but inside it. Whether it is fair for your Gloucester job depends on what is included. What a fair quote shows for a driveway gate is each item as its own line: the material and style, the width of the opening, how the gate posts are set and how deep, the hardware, and any removal of an old gate or fence section.
