How much does a cedar privacy fence cost per foot in Kanata?

A cedar privacy fence in Kanata comes to about $45 to $85 per linear foot installed, materials and labour, in published Ontario installer pricing. Your actual quote will depend on the specifics of the job.

Several things move a cedar quote up or down within that spread. The height matters. The number and size of gates are priced separately, with a walk gate running roughly $500 to $1,500 and a driveway gate roughly $800 to $2,200 on top of the fence line. If there is an old fence to pull out, removal and disposal adds roughly $5 to $15 per linear foot, and posts set in concrete cost more to pull. The condition of the ground and the length of the run also show up in quotes.

The Fence By-law (No. 2003-462, as published on ottawa.ca) requires that the finished side of a cedar fence face the street and neighbouring properties. Cedar, redwood and treated wood are the materials excepted from the by-law's requirement to protect a fence with paint, preservatives or another weather-resistant coating, so bare cedar is permitted.

A fair written quote for a cedar fence should itemize the fence run by length and height, gates as their own line, post method, removal of any existing fence, and disposal.

Once the job is done, keep the signed contract, the itemized quote and photos of the finished fence.
