What a Cedar Fence Costs in Ottawa, Run by Run
$45 to $85 per linear foot
Installed, in published Ontario installer pricing, 2025–26. The range covers board styles from pickets to board-on-board; gates and removal are extra.
Reviewed 2026-09-30 · how we set these ranges
Cedar's published per-foot range starts higher than pressure-treated lumber's, and like treated wood it is excused from the Fence By-law's coating rule. The quote is where the style shows up: picket, board, board-on-board, lattice tops. Draw your run below, then ask each installer to price the same style so the quotes line up.

The rules that touch this job
Lattice, boards and caps count together toward the height limit; only decorative caps on structural posts get their own 15 cm allowance, in side and rear yards.
Fence By-law s.5 and s.6Cedar is excused from the coating rule; the fence must still be stable, vertical and kept in good repair.

Quick answers
Is cedar worth the higher per-foot price?
We found no Canadian government or association data comparing how long cedar and other fence materials last, so the choice is about the look you want and the quotes you get.
Does a lattice top count toward the height?
Yes. Boards and lattice count together; only decorative caps on structural posts may add up to 15 cm, in side and rear yards.
